Discover the world's most epic underwater graveyard
Safety is our top priority
With cutting-edge equipment, a decompression chamber, and expert knowledge of the area, we ensure a secure technical diving experience. Given the complexity of Bikini’s dive sites and their remote location, our trips are designed for experienced divers only.
Itinerary
Trips begin in Kwajalein, where you can fly directly from the U.S. via Honolulu. Upon arrival, our staff will escort you to the Indies Surveyor, our fully-equipped liveaboard vessel.
Our itinerary includes wreck diving in Kwajalein, exploration of Rongelap and Rongerick Atolls, and diving the nuclear fleet in Bikini before returning to Kwajalein. With only 10 divers per trip and limited departures, our Bikini Atoll expeditions are an exclusive opportunity. Fewer than 80 divers dive the nuclear fleet annually, making it a rare and coveted experience for tech divers.
Due to the remote nature of Bikini Atoll, we emphasize the importance of thorough dive experience. We encourage divers to know their limits, as emergency medical care is not readily available. The Indies Trader team is committed to safety, but we rely on divers to dive responsibly.
About Bikini Atoll
Bikini Atoll, a breathtaking collection of 23 islands surrounding a 230-square-mile lagoon, is one of the most exceptional dive sites in the world. Located in the Marshall Islands, it is celebrated for its unique history and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it a premier destination for experienced technical divers.
Prior to World War II, Bikini Atoll changed hands between the Spanish, German, and Japanese governments before being claimed by the United States in 1944. The U.S. military then used the atoll as a nuclear weapons testing site for several decades. The combination of military sea battles and nuclear testing transformed Bikini Atoll into a “ship graveyard,” with battleships, cruisers, and aircraft carriers now resting on the seafloor.
For many years, the dangers of radioactivity, the lack of local infrastructure, and its remote location kept divers away from this remarkable site. However, with modern technology and significantly reduced radiation levels, Bikini Atoll is now accessible to expert divers.
Thanks to Indies Trader’s specialized vessels, including the Indies Surveyor liveaboard, technical divers can safely access this isolated location. Our fully equipped, purpose-built vessels ensure divers are able to reach this unique destination, where they can explore these relatively untouched wrecks up close. With Indies Trader’s expert support, divers can experience this unparalleled site, making Bikini Atoll one of the most exclusive and sought-after diving locations in the world.
